President Emmerson Mnangagwa departed Dubai for Harare on Thursday after successfully concluding a high-impact engagement at the World Governments Summit, where Zimbabwe intensified its diplomatic and investment outreach.
The President was seen off at Maktoum International Airport by senior officials from the United Arab Emirates Government, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the UAE, Mr Isaac Moyo, and embassy staff.
Throughout the summit, the Zimbabwean delegation capitalised on the global platform to highlight the country’s vast investment opportunities while reaffirming Zimbabwe’s readiness for international partnerships.
During his plenary address on Wednesday, President Mnangagwa restated Zimbabwe’s foreign policy anchored on being a “friend to all and enemy to none,” and underscored the Second Republic’s unwavering commitment to the “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” mantra.
The World Governments Summit brought together Heads of State, policymakers and influential investors from around the world, giving Zimbabwe a strategic opportunity to deepen diplomatic relations and market itself as a competitive investment destination.
Among key engagements, President Mnangagwa held talks with senior executives from the Dubai-based Jampur Group, which is exploring investments in Zimbabwe’s power generation and agriculture sectors. The conglomerate has established interests in energy, mining, heavy equipment and international trade across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Following the meeting, Jampur chairman and chief executive officer, Mohammad Shafiq, said:
“We had a very good meeting with His Excellency. We discussed our intentions in Zimbabwe related to the power sector, generation and transmission. We also discussed the agriculture sector and anything else that is needed in the heavy equipment area.”
The President’s Dubai mission marks another step forward in Zimbabwe’s ongoing re-engagement and investment mobilisation efforts.
