The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of a 28-year-old man, Alfred Chinjiva, for unlawful possession of human skulls and remains following a raid at his residence in Bindura.
Chinjiva was initially apprehended on 2 February 2026, after being found in possession of articles of criminal use, including a dummy pistol, at a mine in Bindura. Subsequent investigations led police to his residence in Chipandura Park, where a search resulted in the discovery of human remains.
According to the ZRP, the recovered items included two human skulls one bearing two cuts at the back and wrapped in a yellow cloth, while the other was wrapped in a red cloth. Police also recovered a single bone wrapped in a red cloth, two buckets containing bones wrapped in green, yellow, black and blue cloths, as well as three plastic containers holding soil mixed with suspected human bones and hair.
The discovery has prompted further investigations to establish the origin of the remains and the circumstances surrounding their possession.
Police said more details will be released as investigations continue.
