The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) has endorsed the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill, saying the proposed changes will strengthen Governance and enhance State efficiency.
In a statement, yesterday, CZR said The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) fully supports the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill, which seeks to strengthen governance and enhance State efficiency.
The retail body said peace and stability were critical for economic growth and national development.
“Peace, security, and stability are the bedrock of National progress. These pillars guarantee investor confidence, protect productive assets, and ensure policy continuity—essential elements for sustainable economic growth under NDS1 and NDS2 as we advance toward Vision 2030,” reads part of the statement.
CZR said its support was informed by tangible economic gains recorded under the Second Republic.
“Our support is grounded in tangible results. Under the Second Republic, Zimbabwe has achieved significant progress: GDP growth from US$20 billion (2017) to US$52 billion (2025), stabilized inflation at 4.1%, restored fuel and energy stability, and record performances in gold, tobacco, and wheat production. Infrastructure development, rural industrialization, and renewed investor confidence are evident nationwide.”
The organisation said stability was key to the growth of commerce.
“Commerce flourishes where peace prevails. The stability we enjoy today must not be disrupted by perpetual election cycles. We therefore support extending His Excellency President Mnangagwa’s term to 2030, as development requires leadership continuity to complete transformative projects and consolidate national gains.”
The Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill has generated debate among stakeholders, with supporters saying it will enhance governance efficiency while critics have expressed concern over its implications.
