TIMB calls on new tobacco growers to register

The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) has urged new tobacco growers who do not have grower numbers but intend to sell their crop this marketing season to submit applications at their nearest regional office by February 28.

“New tobacco growers without grower numbers but intending to sell their tobacco this season should submit applications for grower numbers at the nearest TIMB regional office by 28 February.”

TIMB outlined the requirements for registration, saying prospective growers must provide proof of access to land in the form of certified title deeds, a land permit, or an offer letter for A1 and A2 farmers.

“For growers in communal areas, applicants are required to submit a letter from the Rural District Council together with a stamped recommendation letter from their local councillor, headman, or chief,” said the notice.

Applicants must also submit a certified copy of their national identification card and a stamped recommendation letter from their local AGRITEX officer, with the receipt attached.

“A registration fee of US$10, payable before October 31, is required upon allocation of a grower number at any TIMB office. All photocopied documents must be certified.”

Growers can register at TIMB regional offices in Marondera, Rusape, Mvurwi, Karoi, Chinhoyi, Mutare, and Bindura.

TIMB said timely registration is critical to ensure smooth participation in the 2026 tobacco marketing season.
