Rick Ross, Omah Lay touch down this Friday

United States rapper and music executive Rick Ross and Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Omah Lay are expected to jet into Zimbabwe on Friday afternoon ahead of the much-publicised “Hustle and Heritage” concert.

The two global hitmakers will perform alongside some of Zimbabwe’s top musical acts, with the star-studded line-up set to light up the iconic Rainbow Towers on Saturday night. Local favourites scheduled to share the stage include Feli Nandi, Freeman, EXQ, Takura, Shashl, Tamy Moyo and Saintfloew, turning the event into a rich fusion of global and homegrown talent.

Their impending arrival has sent anticipation into overdrive, with fans, media and the entertainment industry eagerly awaiting their return to Zimbabwe. Both artists have previously performed in the country to massive, energetic crowds, and their comeback marks a reunion deeply cherished by their Zimbabwean fan base.

Speaking to the media, event organiser Dru Edmund Kucherera said all preparations were in full swing, with the headline acts confirming their participation.

“Having Rick Ross and Omah Lay back in Zimbabwe is monumental,” he said. “Their arrival signals that Hustle and Heritage is more than a concert, it is a cultural moment.”

Kucherera added that stages had already been erected, sound systems tested and all key logistics finalised to ensure a seamless experience for thousands expected to attend.

Arts authorities say the line-up itself has amplified excitement, as local stars from across genres — Afro-fusion, hip-hop, dancehall and RnB, gear up to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the visiting international icons. Rick Ross, who has built a strong following in Zimbabwe, and Omah Lay, whose Afrobeat anthems dominate playlists across Africa, are expected to deliver high-energy performances.

Fans have taken to social media, sharing plans, predictions and playlists ahead of the show.
“We have been waiting for something this big. Having Rick Ross and Omah Lay back in Zimbabwe is huge,” said local music enthusiast Tinashe Chibanda. “It’s not just the music — it’s the vibe, the culture, the whole experience.”

According to Kucherera, this year’s edition of Hustle and Heritage intentionally blends global and local perspectives, showcasing Zimbabwe as a rising hub for entertainment and cultural exchange.

“This show is about connection,” he said. “Bringing global and local artistes together allows us to showcase Zimbabwe as a hub for entertainment and culture. Their return is a testament to the growth and vibrancy of our music scene.”

Behind the scenes, production teams have been working round the clock — perfecting lighting, conducting sound checks and coordinating logistics to ensure a world-class performance environment.

As the countdown continues, excitement is reaching fever pitch in Harare and beyond. Social media feeds are dominated by hype, with fans preparing to travel from across the country to witness the spectacle.

With global megastars Rick Ross and Omah Lay touching down, a powerful local line-up ready to deliver, and meticulous preparations underway, Hustle and Heritage is shaping up to be one of Zimbabwe’s most unforgettable entertainment events of the year.
