Zimbabwe sets sights on enhanced mental health care through Ingutsheni upgrade plan

President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to officiate at a fundraising ceremony for Ingutsheni Central Hospital in Bulawayo this Friday, as efforts intensify to upgrade one of the country’s oldest mental health institutions.

The hospital has embarked on a drive to modernise its infrastructure, in line with Government’s broader programme to refurbish and rehabilitate major referral health centres.

Ingutsheni Central Hospital has increasingly come into focus as the Second Republic prioritises the renewal of public health facilities.

President Dr Mnangagwa is expected to tour the institution before attending a fundraising luncheon at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

The initiative aims to raise US$5 million, which will be directed towards the refurbishment of the hospital and the construction of a state-of-the-art drug and substance rehabilitation centre.
