Sikhala remains in SAPS custody: bail hearing on today

Citizens Coalition for Change former member of Parliament, Job Sikhala, appeared before the Pretoria Magistrates Court yesterday on charges of possession of explosives.

His bail hearing is set for today.

The opposition politician was arrested last week after explosives were found in his vehicle while he was driving in the South African capital.

South African National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said that the State is currently unsure whether it will oppose bail.

“Investigations in this matter are ongoing, but you must understand that the State does not enroll any matter unless there is prima facie evidence against the accused, as he was found in possession of the explosives.”
