Mangwe District to host skills graduation ceremony for youth and women

Mangwe District will host a skills development graduation ceremony on 27 March 2026 at Dingumuzi Stadium, marking a major step in efforts to empower young people and women through practical training and enterprise support.

The event is expected to draw community leaders, Government officials, and development partners, with Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa, founder of Tonganyika Trust, set to attend as Guest of Honour.

The initiative led by Mangwe RDC Women’s Quota, Councillor Simphiwe Vuyelwa Mguni, has focused on equipping participants with hands-on skills aimed at improving employability and promoting entrepreneurship across the district.

Mguni said the programme was already making a difference in people’s lives.

“This graduation is not just about certificates, but about changing livelihoods. We are empowering our youths and women with skills that can help them build sustainable futures,” she said.

She added that partnerships with organisations such as Tonganyika Trust have been key to the programme’s success.

“Through these collaborations, we have managed to provide practical training, and we are now moving a step further to support graduates with tools and resources to start their own projects,” Mguni said.

Graduates from various disciplines will be honoured during the ceremony, with many expected to receive starter packs, start-up funding, and equipment to help them transition into income-generating activities.

Mnangagwa is expected to underscore the importance of investing in grassroots development and skills training.

“The programme aligns with national development priorities under Vision 2030, which emphasises inclusive growth, innovation, and community-driven industrialisation. Empowering communities with practical skills is critical in driving economic growth and ensuring no one is left behind,” said Mguni.

Furthermore, the ceremony sets to highlight the role of partnerships between local leadership, development organisations, and Government in advancing sustainable development in Mangwe District.
