Iran names Zolghadr new security chief

Zolghadr has been an IRGC Commander and has served in several high-ranking government positions, including Deputy Chief of Strategy in the judiciary for eight years until 2020.

He has also served as the chief of the Joint Staff of the IRGC, deputy commander-in-chief of the IRGC and the deputy chief of security and law enforcement at the Interior Ministry.

The appointment comes as the US and Israel-initiated war against Iran continues despite claims by United States President Donald Trump that talks with Iran are ongoing.

Meanwhile, oil prices have continued to rise after Iran denied it had talks with the US to end the war.

The price of Brent crude, the international benchmark, has risen by 1.8 percent to $101.77 per barrel.

Before the war began on February 28, the price of Brent crude was $66 per barrel.
