Mash East backs CAB3

Mashonaland East Province has expressed strong support for Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3.

Speaking in an interview with this publication, yesterday, Member of Parliament for Mutoko South Constituency, Isaac Tasikani, said the province is firmly behind the Bill, describing it as a progressive step towards consolidating national stability and improving service delivery.

“As leaders on the ground, we have engaged our communities extensively and there is overwhelming support for Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3.

The Bill seeks to align governance structures with the country’s development aspirations, and we believe it will go a long way in strengthening institutions and ensuring continuity in key national programmes,”said Tasikani.

Tasikani said the people of Mutoko South view the Bill as an opportunity to entrench gains made in various sectors, including infrastructure development, agriculture, and social services.

“Our communities want consistency in policy implementation and leadership, which is critical for long-term projects. This Bill provides that assurance.

We are encouraging all citizens to participate in the ongoing processes and support this important national initiative,” he added.

Residents from across Mutoko echoed similar sentiments, saying the proposed amendments reflect their aspirations for stability and progress.

Tawanda Muchengeti of Mutoko Centre said the Bill would help maintain momentum in development programmes.

“We have seen positive changes in recent years, and we believe this Bill will help sustain that progress,” he said. “What we want is continuity and a clear direction for the country.”

Rudo Chigariro, also from Mutoko, said the amendments would strengthen governance systems.

“Strong institutions are important for any country to succeed. From what we understand, this Bill is meant to improve how things are done, and we support that,” she said.

In neighbouring Murewa, residents also expressed backing for the Bill, highlighting the need for policy consistency and inclusive development.

Blessing Gadzirisa of Murewa said, “Development takes time, and frequent changes can disrupt progress. This Bill gives us confidence that programmes will continue without unnecessary interruptions.”

Another resident, Ms Nyasha Mufure, said the proposed changes would enhance national unity.

“We need to move forward as a country with one vision. Supporting this Bill is one way of ensuring that,” she said.

The Constitutional Amendment Bill No3 seeks to refine governance frameworks and align them with Zimbabwe’s long-term development objectives.
