Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2026 hunt begins

The race for the Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2026 crown begins this weekend as national auditions open in Bulawayo before moving to Harare the following weekend, marking the start of what promises to be one of the most exciting pageant seasons in recent years.

With the grand finale set for June 6 at the Harare Hippodrome, anticipation is already rising among aspiring contestants, pageant enthusiasts and fashion industry players as young women prepare to compete for the chance to represent Zimbabwe on the global Miss Universe stage.

Bulawayo will host the first round of auditions this Saturday, with Harare taking over the following weekend in a nationwide search for beauty, intelligence, confidence and leadership. Dozens of hopefuls are expected to participate.

Miss Universe Zimbabwe board chairperson Danya Kabwebwe said the auditions mark the beginning of a renewed chapter for the national pageant.

“We are excited to begin our national search in Bulawayo this Saturday before moving to Harare the following weekend. This is more than a beauty contest, it is a platform to identify intelligent, confident and purpose-driven young women ready to represent Zimbabwe with pride,” she said.

Kabwebwe added that this year’s edition is set to be bigger and more impactful than previous ones.

“The grand finale on June 6 at the Harare Hippodrome will be a celebration of beauty with purpose, leadership, culture and excellence. We are creating a platform that empowers women while positioning Zimbabwe strongly on the global pageant map.”

For many aspiring models and young professionals, Miss Universe Zimbabwe has become a significant platform for visibility, personal development and national representation. Beyond physical appearance, contestants are now evaluated on communication skills, social awareness, confidence, poise and their ability to serve as national ambassadors.

Organisers emphasise that the modern beauty queen must embody character, intellect and social impact transforming pageantry into a powerful space for advocacy, entrepreneurship and community upliftment.

This year’s finale is expected to deliver a glamorous fusion of fashion, music and entertainment, with designers, choreographers and creative teams already working behind the scenes to ensure world-class production. A star-studded line-up of performers is also set to be announced soon.

“We have artistes such as Nutty O, Queen Kadja, Junior Spragga, Xiba, Delroy Shewe and Chill Master,” organisers said, highlighting the event’s expanding entertainment appeal.

Kabwebwe expressed confidence in Zimbabwe’s ability to shine on the global stage.

“Our queens have shown before that Zimbabwe can compete with the best in the world. We now want to prepare a new generation of ambassadors who understand service, discipline and excellence.”

Zimbabwe’s recent performances have strengthened the pageant’s credibility internationally. At last year’s Miss Universe pageant in Thailand, Lyshanda Moyas finished in the top 30, while Brooke Bruk-Jackson and Sakhile Dube also earned recognition for their advocacy work, confidence and strong stage presence.

These successes have renewed optimism that Zimbabwe can once again become a competitive force in global pageantry.

The return of structured national auditions in major cities, including Bulawayo and Harare, reflects a commitment to widening the talent pool and promoting inclusivity. Bulawayo has long been a source of natural pageant talent, while Harare continues to be the country’s creative and entertainment hub.

Industry observers note that this year’s pageant comes as Zimbabwe’s fashion and creative industries continue to grow, offering contestants greater visibility, stronger mentorship and more opportunities beyond the competition.

For each contestant, the journey begins with a single audition one walk, one moment and one chance to impress. For the nation, it marks the beginning of a fresh search for a queen capable of inspiring Zimbabwe and standing tall on the world stage.
