Minister Mavima to host inaugural housing stakeholders dinner

Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities Paul Mavima will today host the inaugural High-Level Housing and Social Amenities Stakeholders Dinner aimed at mobilising partnerships to accelerate housing delivery under the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).

Announcing the gathering yesterday, Minister Mavima said the platform seeks to align key stakeholders behind the national housing agenda and strengthen collaboration needed to meet ambitious development targets.

“Tomorrow, I host the Inaugural High-Level Housing and Social Amenities Stakeholders Dinner.

Under the theme ‘Building Together: Operationalising NDS2 for Housing and Social Amenities,’ we will convene captains of industry, financial institutions, development partners and civic leaders to align, collaborate and accelerate delivery,”he added

The minister said housing remains one of the pillars of Zimbabwe’s development programme, with economic and social benefits extending beyond the provision of homes.

“Housing remains central to our national development agenda, not only as shelter, but as a driver of dignity, jobs and economic growth,” he said.

Minister Mavima said the target of delivering one million housing units under NDS2 is within reach if all sectors worked together.

“The target of one million housing units under NDS2 is achievable, but only through strong, deliberate partnerships,” he said.

Government has increasingly encouraged private sector participation in housing delivery through public-private partnerships, infrastructure development, mortgage financing and investment in affordable housing schemes.

The National Development Strategy 2 is Zimbabwe’s medium-term economic blueprint running from 2026 to 2030 and focuses on inclusive growth, infrastructure development and improved living standards.

Housing and social amenities are among the priority sectors identified to support attainment of upper middle-income economy status.
