The Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira has urged congregants, particularly the youth, to embrace education, entrepreneurship, innovation, and Ubuntu, while discouraging drug abuse and other social ills.
Speaking at the Johanne the 5th of Africa International Church gathering on Sunday, Minister Ezra Chadzamira emphasised the critical role of faith in national development.
“The Church remains a cornerstone of moral guidance, fostering unity, discipline, and values essential for nation-building. The Church remains critical to Zimbabwe’s transformative journey towards becoming an upper middle-income society by 2030,” he said.
“I refer to key economic frameworks, including the Transitional Stabilisation Programme (TSP), National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), and the ongoing NDS2, and note visible progress across sectors,” he added.
Minister Chadzamira applauded developments in Masvingo, citing growth in tourism, mining, agriculture, and infrastructure such as schools, clinics, roads, and village business units.
“I commend the Church’s partnership with Government and ZANU PF. From Proverbs 16:3, I encourage all to commit their plans to the Lord. Through faith and collective effort, Zimbabwe can achieve a future of prosperity, dignity, and opportunity for all,” he said.
Chief Nemamwa, who also spoke at the event, applauded Archbishop Dr Andby Makururu for his leadership and the values being upheld within the Church.
“This is a clear sign of strong leadership. Messages displayed on placards and slogans chanted by congregants reflect a disciplined and well-guided community,” he said.
“I appreciate the respect shown to traditional leadership and government policies, highlighting the importance of recognising cultural institutions and custodians of the land. The congregation emphasises that their faith and national loyalty are not in conflict, but rather complementary,” he added.
In a bold stance, the Church also voiced support for proposed policy directions.
“We support proposed policy directions, including Amendment Bill No. 3, aligning ourselves with the broader national vision. For Johanne the 5th, spirituality and patriotism go hand in hand,” he said.
“Such recognition strengthens community bonds, preserves heritage, and promotes harmony. Unity between the Church, traditional leaders, and national leadership is key to sustainable development and social cohesion,” he said.
