VAN AS extends Zimbabwe’s medal surge at Africa Aquatics Championships

Anje Van As has extended Zimbabwe’s impressive run at the ongoing Africa Aquatics Championships in Oran after clinching another gold medal in the 100m butterfly on Thursday.

The rising Zimbabwean star delivered a flawless performance to secure her fourth medal of the competition, a tally that now includes two golds further solidifying her position as one of the country’s most promising contenders for the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Van As has also smashed the Zimbabwe national record in the 50m butterfly during the championships, a feat that highlights her growing dominance and rapid progression in international swimming.

Zimbabwe’s overall medal count at the tournament has now risen to six: two gold, three silver, and one bronze, reflecting a strong and inspiring showing by Team Zimbabwe.
