Zimbabwe’s global standing on the rise: ZANU PF

ZANU PF has hailed Zimbabwe’s growing international recognition, saying the country’s improving global standing reflects the success of President Mnangagwa’s engagement and re-engagement policy.

Addressing a Press conference at the party headquarters in Harare yesterday, ZANU PF National secretary for information and publicity, Christopher Mutsvangwa said Zimbabwe was increasingly enjoying goodwill within the international community, as evidenced by its campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.

He said the country’s image had undergone significant transformation over the years, resulting in increased international confidence and recognition.

“Zimbabwe is increasingly enjoying goodwill and a positive reputation within the international community. The country’s campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council is progressing well under the leadership of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira,” said Mutsvangwa.

“Zimbabweans in the diaspora are taking pride in their country and its growing achievements. This positive shift reflects the leadership and diplomatic efforts of President Mnangagwa.”

Mutsvangwa also defended the Constitutional Amendment Bill No.3 (CAB3) consultation process, dismissing claims that have been circulating on social media and maintaining that all constitutional and parliamentary procedures were followed.

“The Executive, Judiciary and Legislature remain the pillars upon which our Constitution is founded. As a party, we participated in discussions on the proposed Bill in the same manner as other citizens, exercising our democratic right to contribute to the legislative process.

“We fully respect all procedures governing public consultations and the consideration of Bills by Parliament. As the Politburo, we are satisfied with the manner in which the CAB3 consultation process was conducted and commend the inclusive approach that was adopted,” he said.

Mutsvangwa said the consultation exercise had demonstrated Zimbabwe’s organisational capacity and ability to engage citizens on national issues.

“The CAB3 consultation process has demonstrated the party’s organisational capacity and its ability to effectively engage the people,” he said.

On the economy, Mutsvangwa said business confidence was improving, with many companies welcoming currency stability and ongoing industrialisation projects.

He cited investments in strategic sectors such as steel and lithium as evidence of Zimbabwe’s growing economic potential.

“Countries that develop strong value chains become important players in the global economy. Zimbabwe is making progress in establishing value chains in key sectors, including lithium, which has the potential to position the country as a strategic participant in international markets,” he said.

Mutsvangwa said the broad participation witnessed during the CAB3 consultations reflected public interest in the country’s development trajectory and Vision 2030.

“The vision of prosperity remains at the heart of President Mnangagwa’s development agenda. The level of engagement demonstrated during the consultation process reflects the desire of many Zimbabweans to see the continued implementation of programmes aimed at fostering national development and shared prosperity,” he said.
