…set to improve rural healthcare
Construction of Juneri Clinic in Ward 5, Mwenezi East Constituency is set to begin, marking a significant step towards improving access to healthcare services for local communities.
The development follows the successful mobilisation of more than 20 000 bricks by villagers in preparation for the project, supported through a cement donation by Mwenezi East legislator Sheilla Chikomo.
The initiative has brought together residents who contributed labour towards the long-awaited health facility expected to strengthen rural healthcare delivery in the area.
Mwenezi East legislator Sheilla Chikomo said the project reflects the importance of community participation in development initiatives.
“Access to quality healthcare is critical to the well-being of our people. I am pleased by the enthusiasm and commitment shown by the people of Ward 5 in taking ownership of this project,” she said. “Their efforts demonstrate that sustainable development can be achieved when communities actively participate in initiatives that improve their livelihoods.”
She added that Government remains committed to improving access to essential services in rural communities.
“No community should be left behind in the country’s development trajectory. The construction of Juneri Clinic is part of broader efforts to improve healthcare delivery and ensure that our people receive medical services closer to their homes,” said Chikomo.
Ward 5 Councillor, David Masvina commended the community for embracing the initiative and expressed gratitude to MP Chikomo for supporting the project.
“The people of Ward 5 have demonstrated remarkable unity and commitment towards the construction of Juneri Clinic. We are grateful to MP Chikomo for her continued support for community development through the donation of cement, which enabled us to mould more than 20 000 bricks for this important project,” said Cllr Masvina.
He said the development was in line with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of community-driven development under the mantra ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’.
Local residents welcomed the development, with Maria Hove noting that on completion, the clinic would have a positive impact on women, children and the elderly.
“We are excited that this project is finally taking shape. The clinic will help save lives and improve healthcare delivery in our area. We appreciate the support we have received from MP Chikomo and other stakeholders who are working tirelessly to improve our community,” said Hove.
The commencement of construction at Juneri Clinic is expected to enhance healthcare service delivery in Ward 5 and contribute towards the attainment of national development goals under Vision 2030.
