The inaugural Tripartite Negotiating Forum (TNF) Global Summit begins in Victoria Falls today with up to 2 000 delegates from more than 50 countries expected to deliberate on investment, decent work, industrialisation and mineral beneficiation.
Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister and TNF chair Edgar Moyo in a statement yesterday said the summit was a demonstration of the role of social dialogue in driving economic transformation.
“The inaugural Tripartite Negotiating Forum Global Summit demonstrates the transformative power of structured dialogue between Government, business and labour,” Minister Moyo said.
He said the gathering would provide an important platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and develop practical interventions around Zimbabwe’s development priorities.
“The forum brings together Government, business, labour, investors, financiers, academics and youth innovators to deliberate on investment, jobs, industrialisation and mineral beneficiation under the theme ‘Inclusive growth, decent work, beneficiation and investment promotion’,” he said.
Minister Moyo said the summit was taking place at an important stage in Zimbabwe’s economic transformation agenda.
“As Zimbabwe enters the second year of implementing National Development Strategy 2, which prioritises structural transformation, value addition and inclusive growth in pursuit of Vision 2030, the summit provides a platform to translate these priorities into practical outcomes,” he said.
Meanwhile, the summit will also address employment, skills development, digitalisation, green jobs and the future of work, with organisers targeting 40 percent women representation among speakers and 15 percent youth representation among delegates.
