Nineteen players have so far joined the Warriors camp in Casablanca, Morocco, as preparations intensify for Thursday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sierra Leone.
The Warriors are using Casablanca as their base and have been conducting evening training sessions at the Raja Athletic Club as they fine-tune their preparations for the encounter.
South Africa-based defender Devine Lunga and Scotland-based forward Tawanda Maswanhise are expected to join the squad later today, adding further depth to the team ahead of the qualifier.
However, Liverpool defender Isaac Mabaya has been ruled out of the match.
The fixture will be played in Morocco after Sierra Leone failed to secure an approved stadium to host the encounter at home, forcing the West Africans to move the match to a neutral venue.
The Warriors are expected to use the match as an opportunity to collect valuable points in their quest to qualify for the continental showpiece.
Meanwhile, Dynamos winger Leeroy Mavunga and Hardrock striker Washington Navaya, who were late additions to the squad, are expected to join the team in Harare ahead of Zimbabwe’s next assignment against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Warriors are scheduled to face the DRC at the National Sports Stadium on Monday, with the squad expected to regroup in Harare after the Sierra Leone encounter.
The two matches form an important part of Zimbabwe’s preparations and qualification campaign as the Warriors seek to secure a place at the 2027 AFCON finals.
