President Mnangagwa targets investment at Russia-Africa Summit

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is in Moscow, Russia, ahead of the third Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum.

In a statement following his arrival, yesterday, President Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe’s participation would focus on securing tangible economic benefits through high-level engagements centred on peace, security and development.

“I have safely arrived in Moscow, Russia, ahead of the third Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum,” he said.

The President said the engagements would provide an opportunity for Zimbabwe to advance its national development priorities through mutually beneficial partnerships with Russia and other participating African countries.

“Over the next few days, we will engage in critical high-level discussions centred on our shared priorities under the theme ‘For Peace, Security, and Development’,” President Mnangagwa said.

He said Zimbabwe would use the platform to pursue opportunities that support economic diversification, strengthen industrial trade and create sustainable employment, particularly for young people.

“Our participation focuses on securing tangible benefits for our nation—driving economic diversification, boosting industrial trade, and creating sustainable jobs for our youth,” he said.

The summit is expected to provide a platform for participating countries to discuss areas of cooperation, with Zimbabwe seeking to expand partnerships that contribute to industrialisation and broader economic growth.

President Mnangagwa said cooperation based on mutual respect and shared benefits was important in accelerating development across strategic sectors of the economy.

“Through mutual respect and win-win partnerships, we aim to accelerate growth in key sectors, including energy, food security, digital transformation, and technology,” he said.

The sectors identified by the President are central to Zimbabwe’s ambitions to strengthen productive capacity, improve food availability, expand access to modern technologies and create new economic opportunities.

Zimbabwe’s participation reflects the Government’s continued pursuit of international partnerships to mobilise investment, expand trade and support national development objectives.
