MUTARE — Mutare-born music producer and artist Richmond Tamuka Mutunhu, popularly known as Gransunn, is gearing up to make his mark as a recording artist with Blessings, an Afro-pop EP set for release this December, featuring an exciting cross-industry collaboration with comedian Magik Myk, popularly known as Odza Odza.
The project’s title track, Blessings, brings together Gransunn’s musical creativity and Magik Myk’s entertainment personality, creating an intriguing collaboration between Zimbabwe’s music and comedy sectors.
The EP explores everyday struggles, particularly those experienced in relationships, while its title track delivers a heartfelt appeal to God for blessings on behalf of ghetto youths and their beloved parents. Through the song, Gransunn gives voice to the frustrations and hopes of communities that have endured prolonged hardships, pleading for divine intervention and a better future. Its central message is a powerful cry for relief: the struggle has been too long, and it is time for blessings.
Over the years, he has worked with several artists, including Kay Gee 40, Flexxo Mushawarukwa, Young Ice and Denzel Malakai, alongside numerous upcoming musicians from across Zimbabwe.
Beyond producing music, Gransunn has positioned himself as an advocate for emerging talent, with a particular focus on creating opportunities for young artists in Mutare. His vision is to see the city’s music industry grow while giving aspiring musicians the platform and resources to develop their craft.
Through his Beatnation Beathub YouTube channel, which has attracted more than 12,000 subscribers, he has established a growing digital presence within the music community. The platform also provides instrumentals for artists who may not have the financial resources to afford professional studio sessions, helping reduce some of the barriers faced by upcoming musicians.
His initiative reflects the growing role of digital platforms in supporting independent artists, creating opportunities for collaboration, exposure and artistic development beyond traditional music industry structures.
The forthcoming Blessings EP will mark another milestone in Gransunn’s artistic journey, allowing him to showcase his abilities as a recording artist while building on his experience as a producer.
