Hezy Motors Logistics director, Hazel Mafu, is expected to appear in court, today, for a bail application after being charged with fraud over allegations of running a fake vehicle importation scheme that allegedly prejudiced clients of more than US$634 000 and ZiG1 275 878.
According to Crime Watch Zimbabwe, Mafu appeared before the courts yesterday facing allegations that she collected money from clients over a period of four years after promising to import vehicles on their behalf but allegedly failed to deliver the vehicles or refund the funds.
“Prosecutors alleged that no money has been recovered from the transactions, with the alleged losses involving several clients who had entrusted the businesswoman with funds for vehicle imports.
Mafu is expected back in court today for her bail application after appearing on fraud charges linked to an alleged fake car importation scheme,” Crime Watch Zimbabwe reported.
Crime Watch Zimbabwe said the case represents a significant shift from Mafu’s public image over the past year, when she was frequently seen showcasing her lifestyle and international travels.
“Her court case has now put her reputation under scrutiny, marking a dramatic change from this time last year when she was sharing photos from holidays in France, Italy, Spain and Germany,” Crime Watch added.
The State further alleges that the accused used her position as the head of Hezy Motors Logistics to receive payments from clients seeking imported vehicles, but failed to fulfil the agreements.
The allegations have attracted public attention due to Mafu’s previous profile as a successful entrepreneur who was recognised for her achievements in the business sector.
