ZBC rolls out high-tech license enforcement vans

The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has introduced new licensing enforcement vans designed to significantly improve vehicle licensing compliance while enhancing coordination with key transport authorities. The mobile units will work in collaboration with the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) and the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) to strengthen enforcement of vehicle licensing and roadworthiness requirements.

Officials say the initiative is expected to modernise compliance systems and streamline services for motorists across the country.Equipped with advanced detection technology, the vans are capable of identifying unlicensed vehicles in real time and enabling motorists to settle their fees on the spot. The units will also issue radio licence exemption certificates directly to motorists whose cars do not have radio receivers, eliminating the need to physically visit ZBC offices.

The introduction of these vans is part of ZBC’s efforts to enhance efficiency, convenience and revenue collection while supporting national transport regulations. The project was made possible through a partnership between ZBC and 1010 Technologies, which supplied the technology powering the mobile enforcement vehicles. The broadcaster says the initiative reflects its commitment to improving service delivery and embracing digital transformation in line with international best practices.
