Pres Mnangagwa to open Greenfields retail Centre

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is today expected to officially commission the Greenfields Retail Centre in Harare, marking a key milestone in Zimbabwe’s expanding retail, real estate, and commercial development sector under the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).

The new retail complex is set to enhance convenience for residents, create employment opportunities, and stimulate broader economic activity, contributing to national growth and the country’s Gross Domestic Product.

Located near the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show grounds, the modern facility features a range of retail outlets, fast-food establishments, banking services, and mobile network providers, among other amenities designed to improve access to essential services.

The Greenfields Retail Centre is part of a broader national drive to modernise commercial infrastructure and attract investment across multiple sectors of the economy. It is a public-private partnership between the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show and a consortium of private investors.

The development aligns with Government’s policy thrust of promoting a private sector-led economy and formalising economic activity through structured commercial spaces. It also reflects ongoing efforts to expand modern retail infrastructure and strengthen investor confidence in Zimbabwe’s economic transformation agenda.
