ZimTrade is stepping up efforts to expand the presence of Zimbabwean products in the United States market, with exporters being linked to potential buyers and distributors following the Zimbabwe Business Forum held in New York recently.
In a statement, ZimTrade chief executive officer Allan Majuru said the United States presented significant opportunities for Zimbabwean businesses.
“The USA market is vast, and already familiar with the quality Zimbabwe has to offer.
Following the Zimbabwe Business Forum in New York, we are engaging potential buyers and distributors to explore practical ways of increasing the visibility and availability of Zimbabwean products across the USA market,”he said.
He said the engagements were intended to move beyond business networking and create concrete commercial opportunities for local producers and exporters seeking to enter or expand their footprint in the US.
“Establishing relationships with distributors and buyers is critical in ensuring that Zimbabwean products could move from showcasing opportunities at international business events to securing sustainable market access,” Majuru noted.
He said the United States offered Zimbabwean companies a large consumer market in which local products could compete by leveraging quality, consistency and the country’s existing reputation among international buyers.
“The engagement with American distributors is also expected to assist Zimbabwean exporters in understanding market requirements and identifying opportunities for products that can meet the needs of consumers in different segments of the US market,” Majuru said.
The drive to expand into the US market forms part of efforts to strengthen Zimbabwe’s export performance by opening new markets for locally produced goods and increasing the visibility of the Zimbabwean brand internationally.
Through engagements with potential buyers and distributors, ZimTrade is seeking to create stronger links between Zimbabwean producers and American markets, providing local businesses with opportunities to broaden their customer base and generate foreign-currency earnings.
