Insiza North Constituency to gain prominence through modern vendor infrastructure

Residents of Insiza North constituency are set to benefit from a major infrastructure development initiative following the availing of building materials by their Member of Parliament for Insiza North Constituency, Delani Moyo, for the construction of a modern vegetable vendors’ market.

The new market being constructed at Shangani Business Centre in Ward 23 features twin structures modelled after Mbare Musika, one of the country’s largest and busiest trading hubs.

Completion of the market is expected to bring order, improve sanitation, and increase trading efficiency for local vendors.

Speaking to the Harare Post, yesterday, legislator Moyo, revealed that he was inspired by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind, particularly in the construction of the New Mbare Musika market in Harare.

In view of this, Moyo donated 10 000 bricks towards the construction of the market. He also facilitated access to water through the installation of a solar powered borehole, a development expected to ensure a reliable water supply for vendors and improve hygiene standards at the site.

“This project is about restoring dignity to our vendors and creating a safe and organised trading environment. We are committed to ensuring that communities in Insiza North benefit from meaningful infrastructure that improves their daily lives,” he said.

Local vendors welcomed the initiative, describing it as a transformative step for the constituency.

Thobekile Mafu, one of the traders set to benefit, expressed appreciation for the project, saying, “We have been operating in difficult conditions for years. This market will change everything for us. We will finally have proper shelter and space to conduct our business.”

Mafu added that the planned market will have the capacity to accommodate up to 100 vendors. “This will reduce congestion and give each trader enough space to operate comfortably. It will also attract more customers because the environment will be clean and well organised,” she said.

Another vendor, Ntombiyekhaya Moyo, echoed similar sentiments. “This is a major development for our community. It shows that our concerns are being heard. With proper facilities, we can grow our businesses and support our families better,” she said.

The development marks a significant step in improving livelihoods in Insiza North constituency, as Government and local leadership continue to prioritise infrastructure development and economic empowerment in rural communities.
